Rose (Pasquarella) Arbes

Rose (Pasquarella) Arbes, 100, passed away January 15, 2018 at a local hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 20, 1917 in Westfield, NJ where she resided until moving to De Pere WI in 1998. After attending Drake College she married her Sunday School sweetheart and remained happily married for 72 years. She and her husband Stephen owned and operated Helen Elliott’s Candy Co. based in Plainfield, NJ, until their early retirement in 1965. They enjoyed boating along the Jersey Shore and were both active in the Watchung Power Squadron and later in Green Bay. Rose enjoyed traveling with her husband, particularly to Greece and Italy. They once took a 2 month road trip throughout the United States. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting with friends at the De Pere Senior Center. She thoroughly enjoyed De Pere and Green Bay. She was a life-long Green Bay Packer fan. The past 6 years she lived at Bellevue Senior Residence where she enjoyed and cherished new friendships. Anyone who had ever met her became a friend, she was endearing and loving. She had a beautiful smile and always made people feel a little happier for having talked with her. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Rose was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fond du Lac. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis and brothers, Grenville and Richard; Son Stephen (Debra); grandchildren, Karinne (Jeff), Jason (Leah), Nicole (Kevin), Shawn (Michelle), Lynsie (Carl); 10 (almost 11) Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great Great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore and Anna Pasquarella, her son James; her husband Stephen; sisters, Esther and Florence and brother David.
