Rose Marie Colson

January 29, 1948 — December 22, 2012

Rose Marie Colson, 64, went peacefully to be with her Lord early Saturday, December 22, 2012. She was born on Jan 29, 1948 the eldest child of the late Melvin and Marie (Steinfeldt, Holterman) Colson. Those who had the opportunity to share their lives with Rose will tell you that she was a giving woman that helped everyone she knew at one time or another. Like her Mother, Rose was very devoted to God and church as an active member of Saint Willebrord and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rose would rarely go to sleep without reading from the Bible and saying a prayer for anyone that needed it. She was not one to ask for anything for herself. She graduated from Green Bay West where she was a member of the Rifle club. While living with her family in Germany, Rose attended Girl Scouts camp where she shared her ‘flying BUCKS ‘ which she continued making and sharing with friends and family. Rose was employed at Bay West Paper Company till the company moved out of state. A huge part of her life was the many clubs and organizations she belonged to including, Christian Ladies Society, Eucharistic Minister, and church choir, Eagles 401 , Retired Eagles Aerie 401, Daughters of the Revolution, VFW Ladies Auxiliary 7534, M.O.C. Women's Auxiliary 23, American Legion Auxiliary 11, Bay West Paper Saturday breakfast group and many card groups. She cherished the many friends she made over the years attending meetings and serving the causes that those clubs supported. Rose was an avid reader, she also enjoyed going to the casinos and movies, playing Cards, Bingo, working at Packer games, church picnics, and watching television . Some of her favorites included Star Trek, Bonanza, almost any Western, and many other oldies but goodies. You can hear her say You should turn on the Hallmark channel. Traveling was her passion, including many trips to Rome, Germany, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. She would often tell you that she had visited all but three states in the US. Rose is survived by her sister, Kathy (Jeff Sr.) Olson, De Pere; nieces and nephews: Kris (Buffy) Duffy, De Pere, Erin (Robert) Long, Muskego, Keli Scannell, De Pere, Amanda Charlier, Hortonville, Ric Scannell, Washington DC, Nina (Neil) Vanden Langenberg, De Pere, JR Olson, Green Bay, Great Nieces and Nephews: Liz, Myah, Hannah, Kristopher, Kayla, Linus, Ashton, Celeste and Elliot and many close relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lee Arnold and nephew Casey Lee. Family and friends may gather at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Club and parish prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday 9:30am to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery, following her cremation. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Per Rose's request, the family respectfully requests no flowers. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Chaplain Arthur Callesen and Father Jack; Drs. Jessica Wilson and Dr Ashwani Bhatia, Jenny Mac Gregor and Nursing staff of 2nd and 3rd Floors of Aurora Hospital for their care and kindness extended to Rose and her family. Rose would like everyone to remember the good times and not grieve her death but celebrate her life. Enterprise...Beam me up Scotty!
