Rosalie A. Blahnik

Rosalie A. Blahnik, 74, Green Bay, passed away Friday morning, August 17, 2012. She was born January 18, 1938, in Alaska, Kewaunee County, WI, daughter of the late Leander and Agnes Blahnik. Upon her graduation from East High School, Green Bay, Rosalie went to work at Gateway Transport Co. She worked there until it closed in 1980. She then worked at Larsen Canning Co., and then for 10 years at Motor Transport until health issues forced her to retire in 1998. She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 401, Green Bay. Besides her long tenure as Secretary, Rosalie also served as a Past President. She helped with wedding receptions, as well as fish frys, bake sales, and other fund raising events. She was on many committees on the local and state level, and is in the local Hall of Fame. Rosalie was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Green Bay, and was involved in the Xavier Guild Catholic Singles Club. She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, playing cards, bowling, and traveling. Rosalie had an extensive Christmas ornament collection which she acquired during her many travels. While she was a resident of Bornemann Nursing Home, she enjoyed helping other residents play bingo, make crafts, and accomplish other activities. Surviving are a brother, Robert Blahnik, DeKalb, IL; two sisters: Rosemary Younger, Green Bay, and Ruby (Ralph) Kottke, Billings, MT; sisters-in-law: Marie Blahnik, Abrams, and Mercedes Blahnik, Sturgeon Bay; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and close friends, Jean Piontek and Julie Drais. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Roland, Randy, Russell, and Royal Blahnik; sisters-in-law: Lucy and Glenna Blahnik; and brother-in-law, John Younger. Relatives and friends of Rosalie A. Blahnik may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Sunday, August 19, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 401 service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. and the parish prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., Green Bay, on Monday, August 20th from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Merkatoris officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Rosalie’s family would like to express their thanks to Drs. Paul Hudson, Amy James, and Timothy Tanke, as well as the staffs of Bornemann Nursing Home and Bellin Hospital for the great care they provided Rosalie.
