Roger Stein

On December 31st, 2015; God decided to take one of his angels from earth and bring him up to heaven in celebration of the new year. Roger D Stein, 63, Denmark, passed away unexpectedly as a result of an automobile accident. He was born on August 8, 1952 at St Vincent Hospital in Green Bay to the late Bernard and Genevieve (Scray) Stein of Glenmore, WI. Roger was a graduate of East De Pere High School, 32-year employee of Tape Inc, and a NWTC graduate in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Roger resided in Denmark for over 39 years. He served on the Denmark Village Board for 14 of those years. Roger drove wrecker for Piontek Auto Body for over 30 years. He was a long-time Girl Scout leader for Troop 192. He enjoyed the outdoors including gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, picking blackberries and playing softball. He found great joy in assisting Kathy in caring for all the youngsters that attended Kathy’s Kidz Family Daycare. They will all miss him greatly. Roger’s pride and joy was raising three kids. He enjoyed spending many great years with all of them including the surprise trips to Great America, pulling the kids behind the boat on tubes, and many fishing and hunting trips. He had a great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren including many special hugs and kisses. He will be greatly missed by his close friends whom he will be watching over closely; Roy, Kevin, Frankie, Rick, Dave and Glen. Roger had unwavering passion of being there for many, many people whenever they needed him especially for his new friends at Rainbows End Campground. On August 20, 1977; Roger married the love of his life, Kathleen Novak daughter of Norbert and Patricia (Schmidt) Novak at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark. They raised a family of three beautiful children: Steven, William (Bill), and Laura. Roger is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy Stein; children, Steve (Mollie) Stein, Denmark; granddaughters Malia and Stevie O’Keefe; William (Bill) Stein, Madison; Laura (Tom) Busch, Green Bay; grandchildren Caitlyn, Zachary, and Samantha Busch. Roger is also survived by two brothers, Howard (Rosie) Stein, Eaton, and Roy Stein, New Denmark; sister-in-law Mary Stein, Howard; and brother-in-law, Wayne Lemmens, Kronwetter. Roger is also survived by Kathy’s Family; Darlene (Rick) Fink, Dan (special friend Kathleen) Novak, Rita (Scott) Collins, Paul (Debbie) Novak, Yvonne Novak, Barb (Chuck) Lefebvre, Jim (Amy) Novak, Dave (Monica) Novak, Janet (Steve) Miller, and Victor (Deanna) Novak; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and Kathy’s parents; brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Judy Stein; brother, Ronald Stein; sister, Marlene Lemmens; nephew, Bob Gray; and niece, Heather Stein. Family and friends may visit at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Road R, Denmark, on Saturday, March 19 beginning with a funeral service at 10:00am with Fr. Bill O’Brien officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home until 3:00pm. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
