Roger Oliver Durocher, 79, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on February 16, surrounded by family, from a malignant brain tumor. Roger was born in Peshtigo, WI on December 20, 1935 to the late Alphonse and Helen Durocher. He grew up in Coleman, WI graduating from Coleman High School in 1954. Roger enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He married Betty (Brady) on January 14, 1961 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. Roger was employed by Ft. Howard Paper Company, where he worked for 38 years. He also worked part time as a ticket taker for PMI, and enjoyed working at the Brown County Arena, Shopko Hall and the Resch Center for 25+ years. Roger and Betty enjoyed traveling to many different parts of the world. He liked to play golf, and his greatest joys in life were his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandson Gunner. Roger was an active member of Resurrection Parish in Green Bay, where he was an usher and Eucharistic Minister. His faith was very important to him, and every Thursday he spent in Eucharistic Adoration at the chapel at St. Peter and Paul Parish for 15 years since it began in December of 1999. Anyone who knew Roger would agree he was a perfectionist. “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” He always tried to keep everything as perfect as he could. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Betty, and his two wonderful daughters; Denise (Jim) Wesolowski and Renee Flis. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Kyle Wesolowski, Kasie (Gary) DeCaster, Travis Wesolowski, Olivia Flis and Jack Flis; one great-grandchild Gunner DeCaster; a brother Jerry (Marilee) Durocher; sisters: Kay (Pete) Lamensky, Fay (Don) Smith, Rita Berg, Judy (Bob) Henning and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Helen Durocher and one brother-in-law Tom Berg. Roger was a kind, thoughtful, person who would do anything for anyone. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
