Robert "Skorny" Skornicka

July 23, 1948 — May 4, 2013

Robert “Skorny” Skornicka, 64, Bellevue, formerly of Denmark, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice in De Pere. He was born July 23, 1948 in Denmark, son of the late James and Veronica (Malcore) Skornicka. He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1966 and attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute, where he studied Mechanical Design. He was employed by Paper Converting for over 20 years as a Designer, then served as an independent contractor for Kimtech, retiring in January of 2012. His passion was Polka and Rock music, where he played with the Mark Jirikovec Orchestra, Don Schlies, as well as other area Polka bands. Most recently, Skorny played with the Rock band, “Spice”, as a drummer and trumpet player (at the same time) with band members: Bill Berkey, Dan Dufek, Ken Schafer and Dan Vogel. He also played with the bands: Gemini’s, Castile’s in Kewaunee, the Mortician’s, and Back Talk. Skorny also liked to go to the casino, and he enjoyed his 1970 Olds Cutlass Rally 440, B B’s and taking care of his yard and putting on his elaborate Christmas displays. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Karen (Joe) Duckett, Denmark; nephew: Jeff (Julie) Duckett, De Pere, niece: Jennifer (Andy) Calhoun, Green Bay; great nieces and nephews: McCain, Brady, Kassidy Duckett, and Kypton Calhoun; one aunt, Joyce Matzke, Green Bay; step-grandmother, Helen Malcore, Green Bay; special girlfriend, Bonnie (Cournoyer) Boehm, Wisconsin Rapids, and her children: Justin (Jessica) Boehm, Stoughton, Brad (fiancé-Bridget) Boehm, Billings, MT, Gregory Boehm and his sons, Jackson and Caleb, Wisconsin Rapids, and Megan Boehm, Wisconsin Rapids. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a dear special friend, Mary Schimkus. Family and friends may call Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the procession leaves for All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday at church, with Fr. Ron Colombo officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
