Robert J. Steinberger

Robert Jacob Steinberger 78, of Door County passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2020. Robert was born on November 19th, 1942 the son of the late Raymond and Lucille (Forst) Steinberger. Bob was a graduate of Denmark High School class of 1960 and he served in the United States Navy, from 1961 – 1963. On March 3rd, 1961, he married Judith Ann Reynolds. Bob and Judy owned their own Business, Steinberger Machine and Tool, Inc. for over 30 years. He was a great machinist, and took his machine shop skills to greater heights, including designing and engineering. In 2006 he retired, then they sold the business so they could enjoy a new chapter in life.

Robert is survived by his Loving Wife Judy for 59 years, two daughters; Brenda Steinberger LuMaye, Kewaunee and Cyndi (Dan) LuMaye of Shawano County and daughter-in-law, Ann Steinberger of Green Bay, grandchildren; Elliot LuMaye and friend Sierra, Elisha LuMaye, Evan LuMaye, two step grandchildren, Robert and David Sabatka, and great grandchildren; Ethan and Aubree LuMaye, as well as his extended Family Shane (Miranda) McKenna and children Luke and Maia. Bob is further survived by his siblings, Betty Steinberger, James (Jane) Steinberger, Kenneth (Teri) Steinberger, Leonard (Lucy) Steinberger, Catherine (Paul) Peterson and Nancy (James) Selner, brothers and sisters in law; Allen (Kathy) Reynolds, Connie Reynolds and friend Scott, Marge (Jack) Schleis, and Steve (Kerry) Reynolds. Plus, a lot of other Family and Friends.

He is preceded in death by his son Daniel Robert Steinberger, and his sister Jean Rose Steinberger both in April of this year also, his parents, Raymond and Lucille Steinberger, grandparents, Joseph and Anna (Prybl) Steinberger, and Antone and Julia (Valenta) Forst, mother and father in law, June and Ervin Reynolds. Also, his dog Jake.

In his younger years, Bob lived life to the fullest. In high school he liked to play football, and he also liked to play the accordion and to this day, enjoys listening to Polka’s. Bob liked to fish, boat, scuba dive, bowl, snowmobile, hunt, and trap shoot. He was big into Ham Radio, watching the Packers and he could build/Fix anything. Bob was always trying new adventures, and as a pilot he would fly acrobatics. Going to the cottage was an absolute must. Which ended up being torn down and their retirement home was built. They enjoyed many years with such wonderful neighbors! When Bob could no longer do the things he used to, he made it his mission to make a lot of hats on his knitting loom and they were glad to donate all the hats. He was also an Honorary Member of the FM Lions club. Bob was a person that once you met him, you would never forget him; he had that kind of personality.
He will be missed by all, Family, Friends, and neighbors.
The Family would like to give a special thanks, to all the staff at Bornemanns, to the Doctor Team Dr. Sheila Thiel, and Chris Olson, the therapy dept., as well as all the staff at Aurora Baycare Hospital, ambulance and ER, and all the people who provided great care and compassion for both Bob and his family, for taking on the special roll to keep him occupied and comfortable while we could not go in due to the pandemic.

A Candle is Bright and shined a path for Bob’s way, so he can rest in peace, each and every day.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Since it is not possible to be with the family at this time, you are welcomed to send any cards of condolences directly to the family or to the Funeral Home.
