Robert Herlache

Robert L. (Bob) Herlache, age 94, died peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay surrounded by his family on Friday, February 12, 2016. He was born to the late Nicholas and Mathilda (Gigot) Herlache on December 13, 1921. Bob graduated from Green Bay East High School where he spent his glory years as a running back/kicker for their football team. During his golden years he was an avid follower of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Bob enlisted in the Navy and served his country for five years during WWII. In North Africa, he was a radio repairman aboard the battleship Texas and in the Pacific on the Yorktown aircraft carrier. On February 26, 1949, Bob married Dorothy Williams. They enjoyed nearly 67 years together. He was a real people person. He excelled as a salesman for WI Liquor, Old Mr. Boston (Glenmore Distillery), and Fox Valley Packaging. Bob was an usher at Resurrection Catholic Parish, a member of the De Pere Lions Club and the American Legion. Bob was the life of the party. The party has just moved on to a better place. As we lift our glasses, we salute you, Dad. “Party on!” In addition to his wife Dorothy, Bob is survived by three daughters: Cathy (John) Baumgart of Green Bay, Barb (Bruce) Voelker of Pulaski and Pat (Rick) VanStraten of Green Bay; a son Steve (Kelly) Herlache of Whitefish Bay; grandchildren: Brent (Cindy) Voelker, Chad (Amanda) Voelker, Theresa (Todd) Witt, Jesse (Ted LaPine) Baumgart, Abby (Paul) Otteson, Sam (Kaitlee) VanStraten, Ben (Brianna) VanStraten and Dani (John) Davis; great-grandchildren: Emily, Bethany, Alia, Anthony, Lynnie, Ryan and Ethan; a sister Stella Bouche, as well as nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Nicholas and Mathilda, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Julie Herlache; brothers-in-law William (Norman) Evrard and Joseph Bouche. Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Saturday, February 20, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
