Robert Harrington

On Monday, August 8th, 2022, Robert “Bob” William Harrington, husband and father passed away at age 83.

Bob was born on August 24th, 1938 in Chicago, IL to William Joseph Harrington and Rose Marie Coglienese. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and was an All American athlete in lacrosse. He subsequently served in the United States Army Reserve in Vietnam. He received his Doctor of Medicine after his time in the service and trained and practiced as an OB-GYN physician in his home state of Illinois. He met his current wife, Virginia Villalon Harrington, while in Chicago for a medical conference. They have raised two daughters, Kristin and Julia, and one son, William.

Bob had a passion for the arts, literature, science, and crosswords. He was known for his intelligence, wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and his love and pride for his family. Bob was well-known by many for his extensive knowledge of a breadth of subjects, due to his voracious love of reading. He loved discussing a myriad of topics with others over a cup of coffee. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother, Rose, and his brother, William. He is survived by his wife Virginia, and their three children, Kristin, William, and Julia, and his daughter Brooke.

Private family services have been held for Bob. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
