Robert James Reed, Sr., age 85, of Denmark, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 5, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 24, 1929 in Montevideo, MN to Edward and Clara (Sauer) Reed. He served his country in the U.S. Army from January of 1951 until he was honorably discharged in December of 1952. He married Germaine Loraine Fritsch on January 5, 1952 in Greenleaf. Bob worked for Fort Howard Paper Company for many years in addition to maintaining a hobby farm. He was an active volunteer with the Red Cross, Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 9677, Holy Name Society, and was a foster parent with Germaine to over 40 children. In his spare time Bob enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Community. Survivors include his loving wife, Germaine Loraine, children: Deborah (Robert) Boehm, Diane (Randy) Stahl, Dale (Lisa) Reed, Daryl Reed, Donna (Dick) Czarneski, Dan (Sheryl) Reed, Dave (Lynn) Reed, Doug (Michele) Reed, Robert Jr. (Deana) Reed, Randy (Dawn Baugnet) Reed and Roxanne (Bill) Kroll; 32 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; over 40 foster children, 4 of whom (Mary, Rick, Sue and Mike) were with Bob and Germaine for over 10 years and were like brothers and sisters to their children. He is further survived by brothers and sisters: Dorothy VanAmber, Vincent (Bunny) Reed, Frank Reed, Pat (Leo) Menke, Theresa Bjornstad and Delores (Jack) Burkel as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Denis James Reed, brothers: Ralph, Wally and Jim; sisters: Rita, Mary, Gertrude and Mildred. Family and friends may visit at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 3425 Willow Road, Green Bay, on Monday, March 9, from 5:00-6:45 pm. There will be a VFW presentation at 6:45pm, followed by a parish prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, at the church, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Tuesday with Fr. Dan Viertel officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the Reed family.
