Robert "Bob" Mott

December 13, 1921 — July 12, 2011

Robert J. Mott, Senior of Green Bay passed away July 12, 2011. Except for service in the Army Air Force during World War II, he was a resident of Green Bay and Allouez all his life. He attended public and parochial schools and graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1939. Entering the Postal Service in 1947, he began as a substitute letter carrier and retired as permanent postmaster in Pulaski, WI in September, 1984. He enjoyed a long time association with the American Red Cross as a blood donor and volunteered as a transportation driver for the elderly and handicapped for many years in retirement. In addition, he volunteered at Nicolet School as a teacher’s aide for eight years. Among his awards were honors from the Green Bay Area Schools, the Wisconsin State Reading Association literacy award and the American Red Cross, being named volunteer of the year in 1997-1998. In 1989 he was nominated for national school volunteer of the year. He married Dorothy Manders in 1943 while stationed at Ephrata Air Base in Ephrata, Washington. She predeceased him in 1966. He married Joan Virlee in 1972. He is survived by his wife, Joan, and children of the first marriage: Margaret (James) Schoenwalder, Robert J. Mott, Jr., Christopher (Mary) Mott, Teresa (Larry) Bellin, Diane D. Mott and Andrew Mott. Further survived by eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; Sisters: Marilyn Ernst, Sisters-in-law: Lorraine (Russell) and Joan (Warren) Mott; Sister Arlene Virlee of Manitowoc, Kenan (Jill) Virlee of Iowa, Mary (Don) Englebert of Brussels, Madona Mahlik of New Franken, Tom (Karen) Virlee of Sturgeon Bay and Theresa Stanul of San Francisco, Eunice Manders of Chicago, Norbert (Bette) Manders of Allouez and Agnes Simon of Green Bay. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters: Arletta Kujava and Carol Johnson; Brothers: Russell, Austin, Richard and Warren; half-sisters: Charlotte Ravn and Opal Boya. The gathering area of Resurrection Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, will be available for visitation from 8:00am until the hour of Mass on Saturday, July 16. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, at the Church, with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the Mott family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
