Robert "Bob" Goral

July 2, 1947 — March 21, 2014

Robert D. Bob Goral, 66, Denmark, was unexpectedly called out of the game of life surrounded by his family on Friday March 21, 2014. He was born July 2, 1947 to David and Alice (Mincheski) Goral. Bob attended Saint Cyril Methodius, Premontre, and graduated from Denmark High School where he was class president, prom king and all-around nice guy. He graduated from Badger Business School with an accounting/business emphasis. He enlisted in the military in 1967 and remained as a member of the Army Reserve until 1977. He married BJ Lodl- Hansen, with their parents and four children as their attendants, on November 25, 1976 at All Saints Church. Bob was a loving husband, devoted father, fun grandpa, caring brother, respectful son, outstanding businessman, and optimistic golfer who always put fun in the game. He provided well for his family as an account manager at Paper Converting, Tilot Oil, and he has recently retired from Bay Industries, where he left his employee’s “The Bible according to Bob”. He then went to work for his loving wife, BJ, as an unpaid go-fer, with a never-ending honey-do list. Bob’s pride and joy was his family. His love for life was contagious. Bob was always ready to put a smile on everyone’s face with one of his famous stories, and of course, a Polish joke. Bob loved vacationing with family and friends, as close as Door County or as far away as Hawaii. He brought us all so much happiness; we all will forever remember our endless love for him. Bob, along with his wife, BJ, helped establish the Dick Hansen Memorial Tournament for over 11 years for the American Cancer Society. He proudly served his community as Denmark Village Board Member and was elected as Village President from 2005 to 2009. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Polish Legion Veterans. Bob was instrumental in starting the Big Hitters golf league at Wander Springs, of which he was the clubs Treasurer for over 30 years. He was an active member of All Saints Catholic Parish, serving on the school board, finance committee, a very articulate lector, substitute usher, and cheerful (although slightly tardy) greeter. Having been an avid baseball fan, player and coach, Bob has loved the Chicago Cubs for his entire life as his license plate states, HLY KOW.” Maybe now with Bob’s divine intervention the Cubs will bring home their first World Series pennant since 1908. Have you ever seen his office?!? He was actively involved with his children’s and grandchildren's softball and baseball games. Bob was a loyal Packer fan and was lucky to marry a season ticket holder. He was a professional gift wrapper early in life at Prange’s, preparing himself for his new title, “The Head Elf” for our Family Christmas extravaganza (way too many gifts to wrap). Bob loved to golf with family and friends, and his ability to spot and retrieve lost golf balls under several feet of water, or deep within the woods was legendary. He then polished and packaged his balls for the annual village rummage sale. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, BJ, children, Carrie (Goral) and Craig Hanke; Charlie Hansen and Phil; Brett and Kris Goral; Beckie (Hansen) and Erik Habetler; Jason Goral and Laura; Jessica (Goral) and Jason Nuss; grandchildren, Kaila, Kelsey and Cole Hanke; Hannah and Jayden Goral; Ethan, Abby and Isaac Habetler; Jackson and Jameson Nuss; mother, Alice Goral; brothers, Ron and Rick; Godmother, Stella Jerovetz; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David Goral; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Doris Lodl; and Godfather, Eddie Whipp. Family and friends may call at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, Denmark, from 3-7pm on Tuesday, March 25, with a parish prayer service at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4pm on Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark. There will be no public visitation prior to the mass. A reception will follow the mass at Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Thursday morning. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. In baseball as in life, most action takes place away from home plate while we all seek to return home safely. I am now safe at home…game called.

Reception:
