Robert G. “Bob” Simpson was born on Sept 29, 1940 to Lewis & Verna Simpson in Windsor, Ont, Canada. He passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at home with his family.
After Bob’s father joined the US Navy during WWII, they moved to MI and then Marion, Ohio where he graduated from Harding High School and Bowling Green State University. He and Carol Carpenter met on a blind date and were married for 57 years. He was a proud Marine and served from 1960-1966. Bob’s job took them to Dayton & Cleveland, Ohio, and Beloit, WI before they decided to settle in Green Bay in 1973.
Bob was moved around by Sears for many years; and then spent 25 years as an instructor of supervisory management at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Bob loved being a private pilot and combined it with his love for teaching when he started a flight school, Tailwind Aviation. He also owned Executive Air for several years. Bob was always happy to be an entrepreneur and after retirement, wanted to stay involved in business so was especially proud to be involved with son, Adam Simpson’s business, Dynamic Ventures. He served on the Olde Main Street District board and was involved in his church by serving on the church council in several positions over the years.
Bob was an avid antique car collector and loved to restore them. He was especially proud of his 1955 Chevy convertible, and you would see him driving it around town in the summer. He loved taking his grandsons along to many car shows.
Bob and Carol have treasured the many great family vacations with their children and extended families over the years, and after retirement were thrilled to be able to take their beloved grandsons on many trips with them. He loved attending their sports events whenever possible.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Simpson.
In addition to his wife, Carol, Bob is survived by his son, Adam (Becky Havel) Simpson; daughter, Erin Simpson; grandsons, Cole and Riley Sopiarz; their dad Greg of Cadott, WI; Hayden and Zach Prust; special friend, Lawton Hare of CO; sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Ben Statham, of GA; brother, Richard in TN; cousins, Lorna and Bruce Reevely in Canada; sister-in-law Judy (Larry) Blevins; special friend, Carol Marion in Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
