Rita L. Silbernagel

Rita L. Silbernagel of De Pere, age 84, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Rennes Health Care Center, De Pere. She was born in Langlade, WI, to the late Stanley and Emma (Klimoski) Skodinski on March 12, 1929. In 1947, Rita graduated from White Lake High School with top honors (Reader’s Digest Valedictorian Award, DAR Good Citizenship Award, and State Teachers College Scholarship). She attended Badger Business College and pursued a 20-year career at Wisconsin State Bank. On October 14, 1967, Rita married Vernon Silbernagel at St. Stanislaus in Langlade, and together, they had one son, Joseph. Rita spent much of her life enjoying her family and volunteering. She helped in the office at St. Francis Xavier Parish of De Pere, where she looked forward to spending Mondays working with Fran VanDahuvel and Fr. Tony Dolski. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society and was in charge of helpers who delivered flowers to shut-ins of St. Francis. Rita loved to bowl and looked forward to her one-Thursday-a-month supper with her gal friends. Rita is survived by her loving husband, Vernon, and their son, Joe (Tara) Silbernagel, De Pere. She is also survived by one of her sisters, Lenore Pomasl, Pickerel, and two brothers, Ray (Rogene) Skodinski, Seymour, and Leonard (Dorothy) Skodinski, Brown Deer, and several nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her sister and her husband, Jo (Walter) Kriewaldt, another sister, Bernice Skodinski, a brother and his wife, Don (Jeanette) Skodinski, an infant brother, and two brothers-in-law, Mike Pomasl and Sylvester Bumann. Family and friends may call Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere, with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family.
