Richard “Rick” Wenzel, age 41, of Denmark, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Monday, November 24, 2014, while enjoying his passion for hunting. The son of Ronald and Mary Ann (Sloma) Wenzel was born November 6, 1973 in Green Bay. He married Angie Nelsen on June 23, 2001 in Denmark, and together they have two children, Samantha and Jacob. He worked for Stoffel Equipment and owned and operated Wenzel Auto Body. Rick was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, cutting wood, yard work, as well as going North to the cabin. He also loved playing guitar at home and in the band. Rick especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, above all his wife and children, and guys' night. Survivors include his wife, Angie; children, Samantha and Jacob; his mother, Mary Ann; sisters and brothers-in-law: Kris (Brian) Doemel and their children, Nick (special friend Nichole) and Matt, Terri (Mark) McCurdie and their children, Ian and Breanna, Suzi (Jim) Ploetz and their children, Brody, Alyssa and Casey; mother-in-law, Karen Nelsen; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Tonia (Jeff) Mommaerts and their daughter Abby, Mike Nelsen and Andy (special friend Melanie) Nelsen. He is further survived by close friends, Todd Frank and Dennis Rabas and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald; father-in-law: Joe Nelsen; his maternal and paternal grandparents; an infant nephew, Baby Mommaerts; two uncles: Norbert Sloma and Richard Harp; as well as a cousin, John Sloma. Family and friends may visit at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty Road R, Denmark, on Sunday, November 30, from 4:00-7:30pm. A parish prayer service will conclude the visitation Sunday evening. Visitation will then continue on Monday, from 9:00-10:45am at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 3425 Willow Road, Bellevue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, with the Rev. Dan Viertel officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd, Green Bay.
