Richard “Dick” Schlies of Denmark, age 69, was called home to heaven into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 5th 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born to Bob and Alice (Oskey) Schlies. He married the love of his life Linda Siebold in 1971 and shared 48 years of happiness. He was a graduate of Denmark High School. He worked for Lunda Construction as a laborer for 28 years. He was a member of the Denmark volunteer fire department for 26 years, a member of the 22 Club, and a member of All Saints Parish.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking and going to Packers games. He was best known for his chicken booyah at the yearly Schlies family reunion.
He is survived by Linda, his wife, his son, Chris (Anne) Schlies and their children Caroline, Dennis, and Margaret; his daughter, Brenda Schlies (fiancé Kyle Micolichek and his daughter Kiara); his brothers Mark (Jeannie) Schlies, Robert “Jonesy” Schlies; his sisters Diane (Darrell “Butch”) Johnson, Luann (Gary) Taicher, Susie (Tom) Siebold, Rosa (Jake) Gehrke, and his sister-in-law Sandy Schlies. Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law; Janice Jirikovec, Joann (George) Raymaker, Dorothy Jirikovec, Bill Siebold (special friend Karen Kohn), Tom (Susie) Siebold, Mary (Mark) Vanden Langenberg. He is further survived by an uncle, aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Alice Schlies, his in-laws William and Eleanor Siebold, his brother Dennis, his brother-in-laws Paul and Leonard Jirikovec, his sister-in-law Gloria Siebold, and his nephew Rick Raymaker.
Friends may visit Monday, November 11, 2019 from 3 p.m. until the time of the prayer service at 7 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Road R, Denmark, WI. Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Mass will be 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church 145 St. Claude Street, Denmark, WI.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and staff at Bellin Hospital, Bay Area Nephrology especially Dr. Neu, DaVita Dialysis Center, and Bellin Home Health for the compassionate care they provided to Dick. Lastly, we would like to thank all our wonderful family and friends for their continued support and love during this difficult time.
