Richard "Dick" Kane

May 3, 1934 — January 24, 2017

Richard “Dick” Kane, 82, passed away on January 24, 2017 in his home. The son of the late Edward and Emma (Novachek) Kane was born on May 3, 1934. He was a 1951 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. After serving his country, he married Delores Nesvacil on June 15, 1957. Survivors include his wife, Delores; four children: David (Victoria) Kane of Grand Rapids, MI; Debra Kane of Des Moines, IA; Daniel (Carol) Kane of Denmark; and Diane (Jim) Zausch of Glendale; seven grandchildren: Britanee and Samuel Kane, Sarah and Amanda Kane, Nicholas and Emily Zausch; great-grandchildren: Miles and Colin Zausch. In addititon to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother and sister-in-law; Victor and Doris Kane, sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene and Vernon Kummers, Lorraine and David Gay, Francis and Robert Van de Ven, and James Nesvacil. For years he worked in the trucking and transportation industry. He was a member of the exclusive million mile club. He and Delores traveled to many countries in Europe as well as throughout the United States. He had traveled to 49 of the 50 states. He always had a keen sense of humor and would target anyone with his practical jokes. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, spending time with his family, and listening to classical music. Family and friends may visit at St. Mary’s Catholic Church - Stark, at the intersection of County Road NN and Stark Road (Denmark) on Friday, January 27, from 9:00am until 10:45am. A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be held at 11:00am with Fr. Kevin Ori officiating. Interment in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Stark. Cotter Funeral Home of Denmark is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Our family would like to extend our gratitude to the first responders who assisted in our time of need.
