Richard "Dick" Doyle

Richard (Dick) Francis Doyle passed away Tuesday May 19, 2015 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family after losing his battle to lung cancer. Dick was born the youngest of 4 boys to Michael and Ann (Kelly) Doyle in Chicago, Illinois on August 28, 1940. He played basketball and graduated from De La Salle High School, Chicago in 1957. In May 1961 Dick first met Mary, by June that year he had given her his class ring. Dick entered the Army in December 1962. While stationed at Ft Sam Houston Texas he was on special leave to get married due to the many letters written by his fiancé Mary. On May 4, 1963 Richard and Mary were married at St John the Baptist Church in Chicago then back to Texas to start their married life. After 2 weeks in Texas Dick was transferred to Germany where Mary soon followed. After living and serving 19 months in Germany Richard, Mary and their first daughter returned home to Chicago where they raised their 4 daughters. After receiving an honorable discharged from the Army, Dick began his career in the Paper Industry at W.A. Johns in Chicago, which lead him to become an Owner and Operations Manager of The Paper Group Chicago. His long career in the Paper Industry, in which he loved to work and treasured the friendships made over the years, took him to Philadelphia and later back to the Midwest in Northeast Wisconsin where he was close to his children and grandchildren. While living in Oak Lawn and raising his family Dick was active in the St. Gerald’s Parrish, Oak Lawn and served faithfully as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council #3582. He also served as President of the Oak Lawn High School Booster Club where his girls attended High School. In Wisconsin Dick was a long –time member at Ridgeway Golf Club and current member at Fox Valley Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing with his wife and friends for many years here in Northeast Wisconsin. Dick is survived by his loving wife Mary. His children: Mary (Robert) Carlisle of Wheaton, IL/Door County, WI, Deborah (Scott) Ruggles, of De Pere. WI, Kathleen (Keith) Sanofsky of Oak Lawn.IL/Greenville, WI, Eileen Logan of Denver, CO/Columbia, SC. His grandchildren: Ryan Earley, Abbey, Annie, Grace, Margaret, Adele, Colleen and Thomas Carlisle, Nate, Ethan, Gabrielle and John Ruggles, Madeleine, Cole, Miranda and Tyler Sanofsky. Brothers: Robert (Jean) Doyle and Jim Doyle. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; Michael and Ann (Kelly); his in-laws John and Mary (Murtaugh) Klinowski; his brother and sister-in-law Jack and Mary Ellen (Halloran); his daughter: Diane Marie. Family and Friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where there will be a Parish Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
