Rebecca Grassau

d. September 14, 2018

Rebecca Anne Grassau, July 7, 1962- September 14, 2018
Our dear Rebecca went to be with her Lord on September 14, 2018 after suffering a sudden heart failure. She was born July 7, 1962 in Menominee, Wisconsin to Ruth and Gordon Helgeson, spent several years in Gillett and then moved to Green Bay in 1968. She attended Langland and Doty Elementary Schools, Edison Junior High and graduated from Preble High School in Green Bay in 1980. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1984 after which she moved to Bonn, Germany where she studied Linguistics at the University of Bonn. She spent 10 years in Germany, becoming fluent in German and working as a research assistant and translator. She married Henning Grassau in 1990 and her daughter, Hannah, was born in Bonn. After Rebecca’s return to Green Bay in 1994 she started her career at Humana, most recently as an Analyst. She was greeted in heaven by her father, her sister Allison, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles, and her grandson David Thomas Kasten. She is survived by her daughter Hannah and Hannah’s husband Craig Kasten; her mother Ruth Helgeson; mother-in-law Hannelore Grassau, her husband Henning Grassau; sister Elizabeth Hauser; brothers-in-law Tony Olp and Michael Hauser; nieces and nephews Anna, Theo, Tim, Malia, Tobias, Jonas, Sabrina, Hauke, Henrika, and Morton; aunt Donna Sheldon and four foreign exchange students, Kathi, Sophie, Bo-Ram and Ana. Rebecca was very active in her church communities, most recently Bridgepoint Church. She surrounded herself with many wonderful friends, from all parts of her life. Our family would like to express our deep gratitude to Pastor John Nehs for his strong and compassionate ministry at this difficult time, along with thanks to the entire church family. She was unfailingly kind, always optimistic and held a deep faith in God’s presence in her life, always reminding us that “God is Good.” In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Bridgepoint Church. A visitation will be held Friday evening, September 21st from 5-7 and a memorial service on Saturday, September 22nd at 11 AM, both at Bridgepoint Church, 2421 West Point Road, Green Bay. Rebecca would want us to rejoice and celebrate her life with laughter, bright colors and happy memories of her journey here on earth.
