Rebecca "Becky" Alvarez

February 24, 1975 — March 9, 2011

Rebecca (Kreie) Alvarez, 36, De Pere, passed away with her mother by her side, Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital after a long and uphill battle with Pulmonary Biliary Cirrhosis. Becky was born February 24, 1975, in Manitowoc to Debra (Klabunde) and the late Gary E. Kreie. Becky attended school in Manitowoc, and was always so proud as a child to be able to go to school at Jefferson Elementary where her “Grandpa Bundy” was a custodian. Becky lived in De Pere, and was very grateful for the support and kindness shown to her and her children by the De Pere School District. Becky enjoyed watching movies and playing games with her children: Racheal, Raiden and Reina all at home. Becky loved her children, and she fought her disease for a very long time, to be able to be with Racheal, Raiden and Reina for as long as she could. Her daughter, Racheal and her mother, Debra, walked closely with Becky during her illness, showing their endless love. Becky is also survived by her sister: Gwendolyn Taylor of Manitowoc, WI; her brothers: Bradley Kreie, Gary Jr. Kreie and Jonathon Nething; her nieces and nephews: Baily Kreie, Quenton and Nathon Taylor; Mekka Kreie; MaKaya and Olivia Kreie; her maternal grandparents, Edward and Arlene Klabunde, with whom Becky loved and cherished and was known to them as “Boo Berry”; her aunt and advocate, Tina Klabunde, Sheboygan Falls, WI. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends: Lisa and Erika of Manitowoc; Becky’s cousin and friend, Chad Sprang of Manitowoc; and Charlie of El Paso, Texas. Becky was preceded in death by her father, Gary; her paternal grandparents, Earl and Esther Kreie. A Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice (Jessica, Tracy and especially, Molly, who was always there for Becky through her illness in the past year), the staff at Bellin MRI for their wonderful caring and kindness shown to Becky and her family, Grandma Ofelia of El Paso, TX, who took time to come and help out Becky and her children, the select medical staff that treated Becky with kindness and respect throughout her many hospitalizations, Dr. Gallion, De Pere Christian Outreach and Jean, who were always there to lend a “hand”. Becky, I will continue to strive, in your memory, to be an advocate for patient rights and equal and fair patient care—Tina. Mom, your pain and suffering is over, your finally at peace in the arms of an Angel…Racheal, Raiden and Reina.
