Raymond B. “Ray” Strenski, 89, of Allouez, passed away Tuesday, February, 16, 2016. Ray was born May 14, 1926, in Green Bay, WI, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Tomcheck) Strenski. He attended Green Bay East High School, class of 1946. Ray went on to proudly serve our country from 1944 – 1945 in the United States Army, “Deadeyes” 96th Infantry as a Medic, stationed in Okinawa and the Philippines where he was known as “Doc.” On July 7, 1951, Ray married Patricia Cronce at St. John Evangelist Church in Green Bay. They were lifelong residents of Allouez. He was an active member with the Cub Scouts throughout the 1960’s. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College in 1975. After 28 years of service, he retired from the Green Bay Correctional Institute. Raymond was a charter member at Resurrection Catholic Church and was also a Funeral Mass Server for the church for 25 years. He was a lifetime woodworker and also owned Raymond’s Cornices. He was a volunteer for the N.E.W Curative Workshop for many years cutting wood crafts. For 25 years, Ray and Pat attended the annual 96th Infantry reunion with his final being in July of 2015. In August of 2011, Ray flew to Washington D.C. aboard the Old Glory Honors Flight. Survivors include Raymond’s children, Michael and Margaret, De Pere, Daniel and Julie, Suamico, Robert, Chillicothe, OH, and Anne, Allouez; grandchildren: Ben, Karen (Justin) Sasser, Christie (Eric) Baranczyk, Danielle (Brandon) Peterson, Emily, Allie, and Jacob; step grandchildren, Sandra Boyer and Troy Olsen; great-grandchildren; Kayleigh, Hannah, Chloe, Kaden, Dontrell, Justin, Scarlett, Dawson; brother-in-law, Frank Girard and sister-in-law, Margaret Strenski. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Strenski; his wife of almost 64 years, Patricia “Pat” Strenski and his siblings, Alice Lupe, Emil Strenski, Edward Strenski, Elizabeth Strenski, Lilian Van Straten and sister-in-law, Jacqueline “Jackie” Cronce Girard. Family and friends may visit Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Monday, February 22, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded following the service. Entombment will be in Allouez Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
