Randall "Randy" Kruk

Randall G. “Randy” Kruk, 66, Rockland, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, on October 26, 1945, son of the late Eugene F. and Dorothy (Freitag) Kruk. Following his formative years in Crown Point, IN, and Kankakee, IL, Randy attended Knox College, Galesburg, IL, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1967. He was a member of Sigma Nu (ΣΝ) Fraternity, and majored in political science with a minor in theatre, and also enjoyed painting. In 1967, Randy was hired by A. O. Smith Corporation in data processing and moved to Houston, TX. In 1969 he married Julie Ann Machnicki. They moved to the Milwaukee area in 1971, and then Bourbonnais, IL, and for the past 30 years had resided in the De Pere area. Randy was a Computer Systems Analyst and Consultant for the past 45 years. He also worked on contract in Paris, France, and Basingstoke, England, while residing in Hartley-Whitney, Great Britain. Most recently, he has been a consultant through Skyline Technologies. Randy had a warm, gregarious personality. He loved people and had an infectious spirit of optimism and care. He enjoyed being a part of the community and unselfishly gave his time and talents back to the community. Randy had joined a cricket club in England, had served on the board for the Mankind Project (MKP), and was a past member of the school board for the Unified School District of De Pere. Around Green Bay, he was also a volunteer guide for “If Tombstones Could Talk” hosted by the Green Bay Historical Society, was “Santa” at the National Railroad Museum, and worked with Legacies Arts Projects, Inc. Randy enjoyed all kinds of music: jazz, funk, pop, blues, blue grass, eclectic, etc. He loved being outdoors and recently enjoyed photography. He was an avid runner for many years and loved the game of soccer. He enjoyed biking in the area and with a club in England. For the past 4 years, he had spent a lot of time with his dogs, Murphy and Remy, whom he fondly called “The Boys.” Surviving are his three children: Jason (Audra) Kruk of Greenwich CT, Kerry Kruk of Norfolk VA, and Leslie Kruk of Green Bay, and their mother, Julie; two step grandchildren, Alye and Dylan; two brothers: Keith (Linda Kay) Kruk of Sugarland TX and Gary Kruk of Norman OK; aunt and uncle, Esther and Frank O’Conner of Sewalls Point FL; stepmother, Joanne Kruk of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Webster Ave., De Pere on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Dave Wilkinson officiating, and then adjourn to Luna Café, 330 Main Ave., De Pere immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.
