Randall Lee Gast

Randall Lee “Randy” Gast, age 56, of Green Bay, passed away surrounded by his wife and children on May 26, 2020 after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer. Randy was born on October 9, 1963 to the late Gordon “Sarge” and Mona (Lamberies) Gast in Shawano. He grew up in Gresham, Wisconsin in Shawano County. After high school, Randy was nominated by Congressman Toby Roth as a West Point Candidate and served as a law clerk in the United States Army where he was awarded the Army Commendation and Good Conduct medals. Randy received his bachelor’s degree in political science with highest honors from the California State University at Fullerton. He received his law degree magna cum laude from the University of California Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. Prior to joining Hanaway Ross Law Firm, Randy worked as a litigation attorney with a national law firm in Los Angeles, California. He has had an active law practice in Green Bay since 1993.
Randy’s extensive community involvement includes being a former Village Trustee for Allouez from 2006-2015 and serving as Village President from 2015-2016. He was Chairman of the Board of Integrated Community Solutions, Inc, a non-profit housing and social services organization. Other board memberships include Heritage Hill Corporation which oversees Heritage Hill State Park and CP Center, which provides support for those with cerebral palsy and other cognitive and functional disabilities. Randy also served on the board for Mosaic Arts, a non-profit organization devoted to expanding cultural and artistic expression in the Green Bay Area, and On Broadway, Inc, a community-based group organized to promote the economic revitalization and historical preservation of Green Bay’s near downtown west side.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, whom he married on August 27, 1983; children: Jonathan (Stephanie) Gast, Kathryn Gast and Julianne Gast; grandchildren: James Randall Gast and Adrianne Marie Killion; brother Daniel (Cari) Gast; brother-in-law Brad (Kim) Jekiel; aunt Vicki (John) Wartman and a special cousin Leslie (Max) Verkuilen.
In addition to his parents, Gordon “Sarge” and Mona, Randy was preceded in death by his brother Gary Gast; sister Julie Gast and parents-in-law Richard and Mary Jekiel.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Friday, May 29 from 4-7pm. A parish prayer service will be held at 6:30pm. The funeral mass on Saturday will be private.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for cancer research.
Our family would like to thank the Dr. Ryan and the caregivers at Green Bay Oncology, as well as St. Vincent 9th floor and Unity Hospice for their care and concern.
