Phyllis J. Horne

Phyllis Horne, 91, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2015 to join her loving husband, Wally. The daughter of Art and Mina Hatfield was born on July 1, 1924 in Cuba City, WI. Phyllis was a graduate of UW-Whitewater. She married Wallace Horne in Benton, WI on December 18, 1948, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2007. Phyllis loved her teaching career and taught typing and shorthand for West De Pere High School. She became the department head and taught there for 21 years. As an active member of First United Presbyterian Church in De Pere, she enjoyed her involvement in the Ruth Talbot Circle. She enjoyed curling with Wally and was a member of the Green Bay Curling Club. Phyllis also enjoyed swimming, biking, gardening and traveling on many fun trips with Wally. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam (Ed) Moore, Boise, ID; Linda (Gary) Ott, Fond du Lac, WI; four grandchildren, Ben (Lauren) Moore, T.J. Moore, Ryan Ott, Melissa (Michael) Riggs (Ott); four great-grandchildren, Luke and Maddie Moore, and Lucas and Ella Riggs; one brother-in-law, Chuck (Donna) Horne, Platteville. She will be missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Family and friends may visit Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at First United Presbyterian Church of De Pere, 605 N. Webster Ave., with the Rev. Luke Farwell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, De Pere. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Angels on Arcadian for their extra special care, Ascera Care Hospice, especially Kayla for her kindness and compassion shown to Phyllis and her family.
