Pearl (Boettcher) Henkelmann

November 9, 1925 — January 22, 2014

Pearl M. Henkelmann, 88, DePere, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 and entered into her eternal home with Jesus. She was born November 9, 1925, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pearl graduated from Green Bay East High School. Pearl was a receptionist/clerk at Wisconsin Public Service before marrying Richard in 1947. After raising her family, she began working for the Green Bay Public schools in 1970 and loved her many years of employment there until her retirement. Through the years Pearl played bridge with her friends. She loved her flower gardens during the summer and helped her husband, Richard, harvest his vegetable garden in the fall. She enjoyed many family picnics and simple Sunday drives. Most recently, Pearl belonged to the Ascension Lutheran Church Quilting and Knitting Groups. She joined other ladies to knit prayer shawls and sew quilts that were sent overseas to people living in need. In everything, Pearl loved well! Whether she took the time to “babysit” a new puppy or sit daily at her husband’s side when he needed her most, she loved well. Those who knew her were blessed because of her love. Survivors include five children and their spouses: Robert and Sandy (Henkelmann) Haugen, Franc and Susan (Henkelmann) Langenburg, Glenn and Judy (Henkelmann) Wolter, Jeff and Kim Henkelmann and Don and Paula (Henkelmann) Kiley, along with 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Pearl is preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Henkelmann, her parents, Bertha (Kriedeman)and Elmer Boettcher; sister, Ruth (Boettcher) Tursky; her brother-in-law, Harold Turskey, her in-laws Otto and Antoinette Henkelmann, and their children Bernard, Dorothy, Harry, Marie, Robert and James. Family and friends may call Saturday, February 1 from 10:00am-11:20am at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2911 Libal Street, Green Bay. Funeral service will be held 11:30am at the church, with the Rev. Lori Swenson officiating. A time of fellowship will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for her favorite ministries, the Quilting Ministry and the Knitting Ministry, at Ascension Lutheran church. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com The family would like to thank the Reverends Luther Lori Swenson, the Quilting Group, the Knitting Group and all who brought joy to Pearl's life.
