Paul Palubicki
November 14, 1963 – January 4, 2022

Paul Jay Palubicki, affectionately known as “Bic,” passed away at the age of 58. Gone too soon for those he left behind, but all are comforted knowing he lived life to the fullest every day, which we all should aspire to do. #LIVELIKEBIC

His life centered around Family, Friends and Fun! And what a legacy he left. Always one to live big and love big, he lit up every room and was the life of the party... “guaranteed!” “One HUNdred percent!”

Family was so important to Paul. He grew up the youngest of five in Green Bay near Lambeau Field. He had the best role models in his loving parents, who just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Paul also may have been the one to give them a run for their money! He was lucky to have his brother and sisters all living in the area. There may be photo evidence of his sisters dressing him up when he was younger. Thanksgiving was his all-time favorite family holiday, and this past Thanksgiving in particular he said was the best ever!

Paul’s own family started when he married the love of his life, Shelly (“Saint Shelly!”), on May 30, 1992. They would have celebrated 30 years together this year... with too many great memories to mention. Together they raised the ultimate loves of their lives, son Jesse and daughter Jami... Paul’s pride and joy. Jesse inherited Paul’s looks, easy way with people and life-long friendships. Jami and Paul were definitely two peas in a pod! She got his infectious personality and ability to either have a fun night out or a chill night in together.

Friends – so very many friends! From childhood friends on Frank Street to others he met at Southwest High School or UW-Whitewater and relationships he made while working at NEW Office Supply and STS Consultants/AECOM (30 years there as well!). And those he met through playing, coaching, reffing or watching sports, most notably football, basketball, golf and horse racing. With so many years of basketball, leave it to Bic to pop in a game-winning 3-pointer in high school, rec league or with the Village Vandals. You know his motto: “shoot to get hot, shoot to stay hot.” He also enjoyed rounds of golf with Jesse and Jami or with buddies in his weekly league or on his annual outing in the U.P., including his prized hole in one. His favorite day of the year was the Kentucky Derby, where for years he watched and celebrated with close friends and mint juleps. Shelly’s best friends from high school and their spouses and kids all easily became Bic’s ‘framily.’ And we are forever grateful for life-long friendships made through Jesse and Jami’s sports as well.

A FUN-loving, entertaining guy with an infectious smile and laugh, he would be in his element walking the beach or downing a pound of Royal Reds in Gulf Shores; playing blackjack, craps, “Red 36” on roulette (that one’s for you Andy!) or wagering in Las Vegas casinos; ‘tailgating’ inside The Bar before and during a Packer game; taking a sunset pontoon booze cruise or enjoying a good stogie around a camp fire up north at Kamp Kief or friends’ cottages in Townsend/Lakewood/Lake Tomahawk/Rhinelander/Clintonville; or just chilling at home with his family watching Alaska shows or doing puzzles with Jami.

Paul leaves behind by his wife, Michelle (Shelly) Prei and their son Jesse and daughter Jami as well as other loved ones.

In-Laws: Virginia (Bill) Stein and Gene (Barb) Prei; sister-in-law Dawn Prei and her son Tyler Sauvola and daughter Erin Sauvola, and Erin and Mike Fogl’s son Lucas who had a special bond with “Uncle Paw”and brought Paul so much joy over the past 2+ years.
He also leaves behind other great-nieces and great-nephews.

As for others that have gone before Paul, we know he’s taking care of his sister Deb Thiry and having a good time with Willi, Andy, Jim, Justin, Chief, and others.

Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Friday, January 7, from 3-7pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, from 10:00am until 11:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. The mass will be livestreamed at gbres.org/live

Following Mass, all are invited to celebrate Bic’s life at one of his favorite places where he may have set records for drinking the most CC Old Fashioneds – Graystone Ale House, 3711 Monroe Rd in De Pere/Ledgeview.
