Paul DeGroot, 83, De Pere, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at his home. He was born August 21, 1928 in Lohrville, WI, son of the late Mark and Marie (LeBrun) DeGroot. He was employed as a stone-cutter and Mason all his life. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Patricia Ann DeStaercke, September of 1967, and she preceded him in death in 1980. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the DAV. Survivors include his three sons: Robert (Holly) DeGroot, Phillips, WI; Bill DeGroot, Kenosha; and Brian DeGroot, De Pere; two grandchildren: Andrew and Ryan; four brothers and one sister: Mark (Peggy) DeGroot, Illinois, Leo (Lucy) DeGroot, West Bend, Mary Jean Desotell, Green Bay, David (Mary) DeGroot, Green Bay, and Guy (Lynn) DeGroot, Green Bay; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dean. Family and friends may call Tuesday, January 3, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at church, with Fr. Patrick Beno officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere.
