Patricia Marie (Bullis) Hostetler

April 19, 1922 — June 30, 2014

Patricia B. “Pat” Hostetler, 92, longtime Green Bay resident, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at a local nursing home after a short illness. She was born on April 19, 1922 in Eau Claire, WI, to the late Marie and Leslie Bullis. Pat grew up on the family farm and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1939. From there her nursing education and career took her to Rochester, MN, Chicago, IL, Bethesda, MD, Washington, D.C., and finally Green Bay, WI. Shortly after the end of WWII, she met Bob Hostetler in Washington, D.C. and they were married on November 22, 1946 and celebrated 57 years together. He preceded her in death in 2003. Their lives together included stops in Lock Haven, PA, Iowa City, IA, Westby, WI, LaCrosse, WI, and settled in Green Bay, WI in 1954. In retirement, she enjoyed their spring and fall trips throughout the country. Pat enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Family, friends, and faith were important to her. She enjoyed a good conversation, a good laugh, a game of scrabble, bridge club, lunch and cards with “the girls”, and always had room for dessert. Peach pie was a favorite of hers. She was referred to as “Granny” by her grandsons and cherished her time with them. Many times she remarked how fortunate she was to have seen them grow up and to have been part of their lives. Pat was especially close and had a very special relationship with her daughter-in-law, Jane. She always looked forward to their time together. She enjoyed their many excursions to Door County over the years and the many laughs they shared. She looked forward to the holidays and time spent with her family. She loved animals and enjoyed the antics of the family dogs, Gus and Nala. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Green Bay, and was involved in various activities such as: DAR, Red Hats, and Bellin Concerned Hearts. She enjoyed her many friends at the St. Joseph Condo over the years, as well as her time and friends she made at Bellevue Senior Living Community this past year. She is survived by her son, Rob (Jane), Green Bay; grandsons, Brett (Nikki), Sun Prairie, WI, Ben, Madison, WI, and Lee, San Francisco, CA. Pat is further survived by her brother, Dan (Shirley), Cameron, WI; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends. Family and friends may call Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of Memorial Service celebrating her life at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe St., Green Bay, with the Rev. David Kalas officiating. Entombment was in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Per her wishes, in lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF), a charity close to her heart. Pat’s family would like to thank the Physicians, St. Vincent Hospital 7th floor, Unity and the Odd Fellow staffs for their support and care provided to her during her illness and this final chapter of her life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May she rest in peace.
