Patricia A. Tweet

Patricia A. Tweet, age 94, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. She lived a long and joyous life, keeping people laughing until the day she passed.

Pat was born on November 1, 1927, to William James Robinson, Jr., and Pearl Kelly Robinson. Pat’s mother Pearl died during childbirth, so Pat and her twin brother, Bill, were raised by her Grandma Robinson. She spent much of her youth learning to speak her mind with her close cousins Henry “Corky” Rahr and Betty Rahr Herlache. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1945 and attended Mount Mary College.

Always one to know what she wanted, Pat met her husband, Andy, while she was in kindergarten, and her love for him never wavered. The two were married at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in 1950 and their great love story was a defining tenet of Pat’s life. She was a devoted wife, who complemented Andy in their marriage as he grew Tweet Bros. into Tweet Garot Mechanical, a successful family business. Pat offered him support, wisdom, and guidance—along with the occasional retort—but without fail, she always brought a smile to his face. Andy has certainly been smiling this week as his darling Pat finally joined him in heaven. Pat most certainly greeted Andy with an earful for leaving her too young.

After Andy’s early passing, Pat filled her life with family and friends. She shined love on her children, Judy and John, and played an important role in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was everything to Pat. A day didn’t pass without a phone call from Mom, a card from Grandma, or a gift from Great Grandma. Her home is still overflowing with pictures of family, friends, and Andy that tell many lifetimes of stories and adventures.

Pat exuded an excitement about life that is hard to describe and even harder to replicate. “Every day I get up is a plus,” she always said, which allowed Pat to live each day to the fullest, never taking a moment for granted. She found wonder in freshly cut lilies of the valley and art projects from her great grandchildren. She ended every phone call to her grandchildren with, “wherever you are, I hope you’re having fun,” and you could rest assured that wherever she was, fun was being had.

She lived with the belief that age was just a number and there was nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a chocolate shake and a good book. Unless it was the remote control—the only person who could fix that was her son-in-law—and Pat adored movies. It seemed as if she saw a movie in the theater every week for the better part of a few decades.

Pat treasured all things pink and unabashedly decorated her home, her wardrobe, her world with her favorite hue. She was always stylishly dressed, regardless of the occasion, and she maintained her enjoyment of being a warm and charming hostess until the very end.

Her caring heart never stopped seeing the joy in life. She answered every utterance of “I love you” with “I love you more—with all my heart.” And she never stopped sharing that big-hearted love and joy with others.

Her smile, laughter and lively banter are already missed, but she’s finally reunited with her Andy, so her love story has the happy ending it always deserved. We love you, mom/grandma/great gram—with all our hearts.

Pat is survived by her two children Judy (Tim) Howald and John Tweet; two grandchildren Christopher (Brooke) Howald and Emily (Brian) Sefton; and five adoring great grandchildren Elsie, Ainsley, Dylan, Bennett, and Fletcher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Tweet, Jr.; twin brother, Bill; and infant daughter, Mary.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Unity Hospice, who lovingly assisted with Pat’s care in her final months. Sincerest thanks also go to Kathy Nelson, who maintained Pat’s meticulous level of organization for decades. A deep gratitude is also extended to Pat’s phenomenal caregivers who brought comfort, joy, and many home-cooked meals to Pat’s otherwise dormant kitchen. Kathy, Mary, Angela, Diane, and Laura thank you for your constant love and support. Pat’s favorite place to be—her pink sitting room—was brighter with you by her side.

Visitation will be held at Resurrection Catholic Parish on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.
