Orville Schroeder

December 21, 1929 — January 23, 2015

Orville A. Schroeder, 85, passed away January 23, 2015 with his loving family by his side listening to his favorite music. He was born December 21, 1929 in the Town of Glenmore (Shirley), WI, to the late Max and Pauline (Geirsbach) Schroeder. He met the love of his life, Lorraine Vander Heiden, at Bluestone Park dancing to the music of Romy Gosz. They had many wonderful times together. They were married September 16, 1947 in St. Rafael Cathedral in Dubuque, Iowa. Orville spent 32 months in the US Army SIG C. ASA He spent 42 years at Dehn’s Ice Cream, first as the De Pere store owner and then home and farm delivery, 4 years at Holtger Bros and 15 years at Weber Bowling and Awards. He was an avid bowler, achieving highs of 767/296-290. He was the proud originator of The Orv Bowl, a charity bowling tournament, raising thousands of dollars for sick children adults alike with the help of family and friends. Orville was a member of St. Mary Parish in De Pere, serving as trustee, usher, and selling Scrip. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine, and their children: Mary Kay (Steve) Jauquet, Dale (Jayne) Schroeder, Denise (Kurt) Gajeski, Nancy (Pat) Burke, Steven, Renee (Kevin) Perock, Susan (Rick) Beining; grandchildren: Colleen (Mike) Vien, Polly (Ryan) Juley, Neil (Amanda) Jauquet, Andrew (Kristen) Schroeder, Jennifer (Bill) Kramer, Adam Titulaer, Colin Burke, Ryan Burke, Shannon (fiancé Rob Mach) Burke, Ross and Cassidy Perock, Danielle, Megan and Allison Beining; great-grandchildren: Gunnar VonHaden, Cora and Jansen Jauquet, Ava Mach and Mac Schroeder; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth, Rosella and Joan Schroeder. Orville was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lois; a grandson, Benjamin Jauquet; brothers: Norman, Merlin, Walter, Roland and Marvin; sisters: Florelda (Walter) Krueger, Elverta (Lawrence) Bittner; a nephew, Donald Krueger; a niece/godchild, Barbara Schroeder Peters; father-in-law: Lawrence Vander Heiden; sister-in-law: Helen Vander Heiden; mother and father-in-law: Robert (Agnes Coenen) Hannan; as well as many relatives and good friends. Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, on Tuesday, January 27, from 2:00-5:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00pm Tuesday with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the De Pere Christian Outreach Food Pantry, and for St. Vincent Hospital Cancer Research. Dad - Thanks for showing us how to play hard and love unconditionally. You fought a good fight and we know you are in peace. We love you!
