Norman Vanderkelen

April 12, 1937 — August 16, 2021

Norman (Pops) VanderKelen, age 84, of Denmark, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, in the care of his daughter Debbie. The son of Norbert and Mabel (Nelson) VanderKelen was born April 12, 1937. On June 2, 1962 he married Janice Schmit at St. Pat’s Parish in Green Bay and celebrated 49 wonderful years before she passed away in 2011.  Janice and Norman raised their family on their family farm for 41 years and retired in 2003. Even after retirement, he still enjoyed working on the hobby farm and you would always find him in his flannel shirts and long underwear 364 days a year. When he wasn’t helping on the farm, he enjoyed bus trips to the casino and other vacations with family.

Surviving Norman are his children: David VanderKelen of Denmark, Mark (Lisa) VanderKelen of Denmark, Debbie (Wayne) Wendt of Maribel; 6 grandchildren: Michaela (Jake) Schilleman of Rhinelander; Jaclyn, Ashley and Zachary Wendt of Maribel; Aubrey and McCoy Krish of Denmark; great-grandchild Hunter Wendt and a soon-to-be great-granddaughter Karsyn Schilleman; sister: Elaine Hecker; brother-in-law: Earl Beyer.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife Janice; son Paul; sister Lu Beyer; brother-in-law George Hecker.
