Norman Sr. Tauber

September 9, 1916 — May 29, 2010

Norman F. Tauber, Sr., 93, Denmark, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010. He was born September 9, 1916 in Denmark, WI, son of the late John and Agnes (Grusczynski) Tauber. Norman served his country in the United States Merchant Marines during WWII. Norman married Dolores S. Hansen on October 4, 1937 at All Saints Rectory, and she preceded him in death on December 20, 2008. From 1945 to 1970, they owned and operated Tauber’s Standard Station and a used car dealership in Denmark. He was a charter/lifetime member of the Denmark Rod and Gun Club. Norman was an avid hunter, enjoying his many trips out west Elk hunting, as well as Coon hunting in the area. He was founding and active member of the Scarboro Hunting Club for over 46 years. He enjoyed his daily fishing activities on Lake Michigan with his friends. He served on the Board of Directors of Denmark Bancshares, Inc., Denmark State Bank, and the Denmark Agricultural Credit Corporation. He also was a member of the Loan Committee, Audit Committee and Compensation Committee of Denmark State Bank. Survivors include his daughter, Penny (Richard) Essig, Pinehurst, NC; two sisters, Romaine Thompson, Green Valley, AZ, and Dorothy Seidle, Boulton, MO; sister-in-law, Gene Tauber, Denmark; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Norman Tauber, Jr., Norman “Butch” Tauber, Jr.; wife, Dolores; two brothers, Hubert Tauber and Richard Tauber; sister, Janet Burnside. Family and friends may call Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at church, with Fr. Ron Colombo officiating. Full Military Rites will follow. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, Denmark, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
