Norma J. Buechler, age 80, of De Pere, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 19, 2015. The daughter of the late Gerald Sr. and Leona (Geurts) Gerrits was born March 2, 1935 in Green Bay. She married Ken Buechler on February 14, 1956 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. Together, Ken and Norma shared more than 40 years of marriage and lived in the Wrightstown area throughout their lives. Norma was an active member of the American Legion Urban Klister Post 436 Auxiliary, where she was past president. She was also a long-time member of St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site and the Christian Mothers group. Besides watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers play, Norma enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards. Survivors include her children: Debbie (Kip) Hansen, Tom (Kathy) Buechler and Shari (John) Leidel; grandchildren: Bryan (Emily) Hansen, Katie Hansen, Brooke Buechler, Billie Jo (Matt) Cornett, Beth Leidel and Sara Leidel, as well as 2 soon-to-be great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two siblings: Dolores Kettenhofen and Dr. Roger Gerrits; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gerrits; as well as brother-in-law Luke Verbeten and sister-in-law Donna Buechler; godchildren, nieces, nephews and other family. In addition to her parents and husband, Ken, Norma was preceded in death by an infant son Gerard, brothers and sisters: Carol (Russ) Titel and Junior Gerrits, brother-in-law Bob Kettenhofen, sister-in-law Eunice Verbeten and brother-in-law Ron Buechler. Further preceded by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Ted (Mary) Buechler. Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, on Monday, August 24, from 9:00am until 11:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30am with the Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating and Rev. Carl Meulemans concelebrating. Interment in St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory of Wrightstown is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Norma’s name. The family would like to thank the staff of Bellin Hospital for their care and concern.
