Norbert K. Petasek, age 87, of De Pere, passed away December 2, 2013 at his home. The son of the late Frank and Bernice (Ostrenga) Petasek was born March 9, 1926 in the Town of Eaton. Norbert served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He married Clara Lemmen on June 24, 1950 a St. Mary Catholic Church in Green Bay, and together they had two children. He worked for Betten Salvage, which later became Samuel Salvage for 41 years before retiring. He was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, traveling and playing cards with relatives. In addition to his wife, Clara, survivors include his children: Lil (Bill) Boettcher and Jerome (Beth) Petasek; grandchildren: Michelle (Todd) Paulson, James Tiesling, Jason (Anne) Boettcher, Jerry (Leslie) Petasek and Jake (Keri) Petasek; great-grandchildren: Mikayla Hubers, Mackenzie Hubers, Tristin Tiesling, Nathan Tiesling, Kolin Boettcher and Konor Boettcher, Alice Petasek, Edgar Petasek, Aidan Pokorny, Laney Petasek and Chelsea Frisina; siblings: Elsie (Tony) Gierczak, Frank Petasek, Clarence Petasek, Dolores Petasek, Shirley Anderson and Ethel Helgerson; in-laws: Clarice Petasek, Carol Petasek, and Faye Petasek; Clara’s brother: Ed (Linda) Lemmen, her sister-in-law: Donna Lemmen and her step-sister: Marge Mommaerts, as well as brothers-in-law: John Brennen and Dick Russell, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings: Ceil (Carl) Matzke, Richard Petasek, Tom Helgerson, Sheldon Anderson, David (Irene) Petasek, Rosemary Petasek, Joyce Petasek, Jake (Tiny) Petasek, Alvin (Pat) Petasek, Leonard Petasek, Peter Petasek and Robert Petasek, and a grandson, Matt Boettcher. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Friday, December 6, from 5-7pm. A parish prayer service will be held at 7pm Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday, from 10-10:45am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St, De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, with the Rev. Richard Getchel and Rev. Jim Massart officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The family would like to thank Fr. Jim Massart and Unity Hospice for the care and concern shown to Norbert and his family.
