Milton Stirdivant

May 20, 1930 — September 9, 2023

Milton, went to his heavenly Father on September 9,2023. He was a loving husband, parent, grandparent and friend to all. “Uncle Milty” was one of a kind and unforgettable. He was known for his humor, teasing and big heart. Milt was born May 20, 1930 to the late Milton and Pearl (Stirdivant) Friedrichs in Sheboygan, WI. His mother Pearl died at child birth and he was adopted and raised by his loving grandparents, George and Alma Stirdivant. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1948. He went on to attend Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, earning a degree in meteorology. He married Lorraine Roe in Sheboygan Falls on Groundhog Day February 1952. They had 3 children and nine wonderful years together. Lorraine passed away in November 1961.


Milton went to work for the U.S. Weather Bureau in Washington D.C. in 1952. He also worked in Huron, SD., Madison, WI, finishing with 23 years of service at Austin Straubel Field in Green Bay, WI. Milt married Lois (Nowack) Zierfus in 1975. They spent 47 wonderful years together in Green Bay, Door County and Naples FL

“Uncle Milty” loved golf (2 holes in one), and played weekly into August 2023. He also loved dancing, skiing, sailing, and the theater. He received his pilot license at the age of 16. He served in the Sheboygan National Guard, 32nd Red Arrow Division. He volunteered at hospitals in Naples, Fl. and Aurora Hospital in Green Bay. Milt was an Elk member in Green Bay and Naples, FL. He was a member and usher at Faith Lutheran church Allouez and Grace Lutheran in Naples. Milt loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed teasing his grandchildren, pretending to be the “Cookie Monster”.


Survivors include his three children, Dr. Steven (Deborah) Stirdivant, Raleigh NC, David (Sandy) Stirdivant, Green Bay, and Sharon (Lane) Wieker, Eau Claire, WI; Three stepchildren, Jackie (Dirk) Welhouse, Abrams, WI and Deb and Craig Kamholtz, Green Bay.

Grandchildren, Sarah and Shannon Stirdivant, Ben, Luke, and Anna Wieker, Andrew Stirdivant, Michelle(Dan) Haave, and Rob Charles. Six great grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas Haave, Jordie, Brett, Mason and Miles Wieker.


He was preceded in death by Lois Stirdivant, Lorraine, his beloved first wife and Laverne Kamholtz.


We want to recognize the staff at Unity Hospice for their compassionate care.


Friends may call at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S Webster Ave, Allouez on Thursday, September 14, from 9:00am until 10:15am. Funeral service will be held at 10:30am with Rev. Joshua Errer officiating. He will be buried in the Sheboygan Falls WI cemetery. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
