Michael Wicks

Michael Dennis Wicks, age 71, of Wrightstown, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 16, 2018.
He was born on March 19, 1947 to Walter and Minnie Wicks in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Norridage High School in 1965, after which he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and worked at the Vogue Wright Art Studios. Later he transitioned into a career in respiratory therapy, working and studying at Loyola University Medical until moving to Wisconsin in 1975. He continued serving as a respiratory therapist at Appleton Medical Center, Kaukauna Hospital, and Manitowoc Hospital. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed drawing wildlife, taxidermy, birdwatching, and spoiling his grandchildren.
He married Marjorie Jewell in Gillett, WI on May 19, 1973. Together they had a son, Jason, and a daughter, Amie. Their family enjoyed vacationing up north, where he dreamed of one day moving.
Michael is survived by Marjorie, his wife of 45 years; a sister, Noreen; a son, Jason (Rebecca) Wicks; a daughter, Amie (Jason) Beilfuss; seven grandchildren: Cari, Arlen, Moses, Anna, Esther, Joachim, and Thaddeus; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Minnie and a brother-in-law, Herb.

The family would like to thank Matt Agen from Ascension Health for his excellent ideas that allowed Michael to remain at home and Ma Vang of Home Care Assistance for carrying out his ideas.

Visitation will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church-St Paul Site in Wrightstown from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Tuesday, August 21. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am with Fr. Brian M. Wideman officiating. Private burial will follow. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory of Wrightstown is assisting the family.
