Merle W. Schmidt

Merle W. Schmidt, 84, Denmark, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2010, following a short illness. He was born on October 12, 1925 to the late Edward and Helen (Stahl) Schmidt, in Tisch Mills, WI. Merle served in the Army during WWII. He was a truck driver most of his life and owned his own gravel trucks. He moved to Indianapolis, IN, where he met his future wife, Charlotte Morris, who preceded him in death on July 10, 2004. Merle moved back to the Denmark area in 2008, where he spent time with family and friends. Merle is survived by his daughter, Peggy (Bill); sons, Tim and Jeff (Kathleen Hermann); grandson, Trevor; step-daughter, Terry (Ben) Hagan; step-son, Mark (Kathleen) Morris; step-grandsons, Greg and Matt Morris; and step-great grandchildren, Brenden, Jack, Holland, Noah and Andrew Morris; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harvey, and Robert (Joan), Jean Schmidt, Mary Schmidt, Frank Wachowski, Francis Riha, Norbert Novak; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Ann Morris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; parents, Edward and Helen (Stahl) Schmidt; daughter-in-law, Tammy Schmidt; sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne (Joe) Bangart; sisters, Jeanette Wachowski, Ardyce Riha, Carol Sloma, Patricia Novak; brothers, Truman Schmidt, Alfred (Butch) and sister-in-law, Lorraine Schmidt, Duane Schmidt and sister-in-law, Lorraine Schmidt, and Arnold Schmidt, and sister-in-law, Ruth Schmidt. Family and friends may call Sunday, September 5, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark, where there will be a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m., conducted by Fr.
