Maynard A. Johnson, Sr., 91, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Son of Norah (Lawler) and Dennis Johnson, he was born on October 14, 1920. On June 1, 2011, Maynard and his wife Marjorie (Gray) celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Maynard served his country as a tank driver during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions during battle. His family takes great pride in Maynard’s service and are grateful for the freedom he helped preserve. Before marrying Marjorie in 1948, Maynard lived with his family in Wabeno and Oconto. Maynard and Marjorie made their home in Oconto, Brookside, Green Bay and spent over 30 years in Denmark before returning to Green Bay. As a self-taught carpenter, electrician and plumber, Maynard could repair or remodel anything. As a truck driver for Freshlike Foods, he logged over 3 million accident free miles until his retirement in 1982. Maynard is survived by his wife Marjorie and five children; Kathy Johnson, Maynard Jr. and Laura (Elliott) Johnson, Tom and Patty (Bishop) Johnson, Douglas and Carol (Nelson) Johnson and Kevin and Mary (Radtke) Johnson. He is further survived by 16 grandchildren: Rob and Terri Ozarowicz, Chris and Jill Ozarowicz, Carrie Ozarowicz-Gerlikowski and Scott Gerlikowski, Amy and Charlie Krone, Adam, Paul, Ryan, Ella, Kristin, Kasey Johnson, Derrick and Diamond Matzke; 6 great grandchildren; Alicia, Riley, Grayson, Jocelyn, Alton, Benmont (and his people). Maynard is also survived by two sisters; Patricia LeComte and Ethel (Babe) Townsend. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Patrick Johnson, Seraphina (Sally) Ganter and Mary Carey Reim. Family and friends may call at Knutson-Cotter Funeral home, 536 County R, Denmark on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 5PM until the time of memorial service at 6PM with Father Ron Colombo officiating.
