Mary Margaret Neugent

Mary Margaret Neugent, 91, passed away October 6, 2019 surrounded by her family. Mary was born October 30, 1927 in Green Bay, WI, the eldest child of the late John and Sarah (Finnel) Vissers. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1945. On May 20, 1950 she married John P. Neugent and he predeceased her in 2014 after 64 years of marriage.
Mary was employed by the Green Bay Area Public Schools as the secretary at Langlade Elementary School in Allouez for 22 years. She was involved in many activities throughout her lifetime as she volunteered for the American Cancer Society, the Reach to Recovery Program, the Telephone Pioneers of America, Mobile Meals, and the St. Matthew / Resurrection Funeral Choir.
Mary was a 42 year survivor of inflammatory breast cancer. She and John enjoyed their cottage on Explosion Lake in Townsend and the winters they spent in Apache Junction, Arizona. She also enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to multiple bridge clubs where she made life-long friends.
Mary is survived by her four children and their spouses: Marilyn (Pat) Batey, De Pere, Pat Neugent, Fayetteville, AR, Mike (Cindy) Neugent, De Pere, and Marge Neugent, Green Bay. She also has three granddaughters: Lizzie (Will) Yoder; Jenny (Erik) Miller, and Becky Neugent, as well as four great-grandchildren, Saoirse and Brendan Yoder, Kaden and Kendall Jo Miller. Mary is further survived by her sisters, Kathleen Jobelius and Lucille Walczyk, and her brother Jerry Vissers, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary’s special friends Ron and Sharon Richter also survive her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Betty (Tom) Higgins, her brother Jim Vissers, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick Jobelius, Len Walczyck, Marion Vissers, Mary C. Neugent, and Alice Neugent.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Thursday, October 10, from 4-7pm. A parish prayer service will be held at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Friday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew St, Allouez, from 10:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
