Mary Elizabeth (Schroeder) Mcvey

January 21, 1958 — September 17, 2016

Mary Elizabeth McVey, age 58, departed this world peacefully on September 17, 2016 with her husband and three children by her side. Born on January 21, 1958, she was the daughter of Robert and Carole (Toomey) Schroeder. On October 14, 1989, she was united in marriage to John McVey at St. Jude Catholic Church in Green Bay. Together they shared three children, which along with the rest of her extended family, formed the foundation of her life. Mary was the most selfless, inspirational, compassionate, patient and caring person you could meet, and had the ability to make every family event she planned a success. She and John especially enjoyed hosting family gatherings at their home filled with love and laughter. She enjoyed vacationing with her family in Las Vegas and Florida among other places. Mary also had a love of swimming and music. The family she so well cared for includes her husband John; children: Courtney (Nick) Wochos, Ian McVey and Maggie McVey; granddaughter Lyla Wochos; sisters: Sue (Jeff) Johnson, Kathy (friend Jake Buschman) Schroeder and Judy Schroeder; mother-in-law Jean McVey and in-laws: Barb (Jim) Brooks, Joe (Sue) McVey, Jerome (Korry) McVey, Bonnie (friend Dave Pankratz) McVey, Beth (Gary) Bronstein and Brenda McVey; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Carole Schroeder and father-in-law Bernard McVey. Family and friends may gather for a celebration of Mary’s life at Graystone Ale House, 3711 Monroe Road, De Pere, on Tuesday, September 20, from 4-8pm. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com The family respectfully asks flowers not be sent, but rather contributions be made to a memorial fund that is being established. We would like to thank our family members, coworkers, friends and neighbors for their support. We would also like to thank the Bellin Cancer Team, the staff on the 4th floor at Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice for the wonderful care and concern shown to Mary and us.
