Mary Ann Wenzel, 76, Denmark, passed away unexpectedly after a courageous battle with heart and kidney disease on Monday, May 23, 2016. She was born in Green Bay on August 26, 1939 to the late Andrew and Victoria (Wozniak) Sloma. She was a lifelong Denmark resident and a 1957 graduate of Denmark High School. On August 22, 1964 she married Ronald F. Wenzel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove. Together they celebrated 41 years before his passing in 2005. Mary Ann held many administrative positions over the years before retiring from Enersys. Mary Ann enjoyed her yard, spending time on the deck reading, watching the wildlife, gardening and trips to the family cabin. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Kris (Brian) Doemel and their children, Nick (fiancé Nichole) and Matt; Terri (Mark) McCurdie and their children, Ian and Breanna; Suzi (Jim) Ploetz and their children, Brody, Alyssa and Casey; daughter-in-law, Angie Wenzel and her children, Samantha and Jacob; sister, Eleanor Sloma; brother, Bernard (Judy) Sloma; brother-in-law, Ken (Lois) Wenzel; sisters-in-law, Carol Harp, Margaret (Greg) Watson; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; son, Richard “Rick”; brother, Norbert Sloma; brother-in-law, Richard Harp; other relatives. Family and friends may visit at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Road R, Denmark on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 4PM to 7PM. A parish prayer service will conclude the evening at 7PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Road, Green Bay, from 9AM to 10:15AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mary Ann at 10:30AM at the church. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
