Mary Ann (Annie) "Nana" Boersma

Mary Ann (Annie) “Nana” (Van Bogart) Boersma, 70, De Pere, died on Monday, October 11, 2010, after gracefully battling mucosal melanoma for over a year. She was born on March 24, 1940, the first of seven children to the late Joseph and Dorothea (Martens) Van Bogart in De Pere. She was united in marriage to Roger Boersma at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere on December 27, 1958. Mary Ann was active over the years as a hockey mom, Redbird fan for her children and grandchildren’s sports, Cub Scout and Brownie Leader, St. Vincent DePaul volunteer, confirmation teacher at St. Mary Catholic Church, Eucharistic Minister for St. Vincent Hospital and St. Mary Church. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roger; children; Peggy, Pam, Peter, Patrick and wife Cathy Boersma; daughter-in-law, Valerie Boersma; grandchildren: Tyler, Steven, Angela and Timothy Stoltz, Michael (Jenny) Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, Anna Przybelski, Kaleb Boersma, and Gregg Pianosi; great-grandchildren, Lucy Rogers and Nathaniel Pianosi. Her siblings, Joan Quigley, Bob (Wanda), Norbert (Shirley), John, James “Clem” (Pam) Van Bogart; brothers-in-law, Jim Ver Haagh, Rich (Judy) Boersma; many nieces, nephews and their families, and her treasured book club and dream club friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Boersma and an infant son; grandson, Zacherie; parents; sister, Marge Ver Haagh; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bud and Lucy Boersma. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Monday, October 18, 2010, from 4PM to 8PM, with a parish wake service, at 7:30p.m. with Father James Nielson. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 19 from 10:00am until 10:45a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John the XXIII Circle, off Sportsman Drive, Town of Ledgeview. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday at the church with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Online condolences may be expressed to Mary Ann’s family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Mary Ann’s family extends a special thank you to Dr. Jaslowski and the entire staff of Green Bay Oncology, Father Jack Harper, Unity Hospice: Carrie, Heather and Dr. Paul Koch.
