Mary Alice Reynders

Mary Alice Reynders, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, November 16, 2017. She was born August 14, 1935 the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (DeWane) Effert. On January 21, 1961 she married Vern Reynders at St. Francis Cathedral in Green Bay. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in Greenleaf, where they raised their five children. She devoted her entire life to her family. For many years, Mary Alice was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenleaf and was an active member of the Altar Society, church choir, and volunteered at the school. In her younger years, Mary Alice was a member of the Rockland Homemakers Club. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothing for her children and grandchildren. Mary Alice enjoyed card parties, bowling and traveling with her husband. Most important to Mary Alice was her family including her 16 grandchildren. She was loved and known for her annual kite fly, Easter egg hunts, and pumpkin carving get togethers. Mary Alice also was an active member of Encore, a breast cancer survivor group. Mary Alice is survived by her husband, Vern Reynders; children, Laurie (Dave) Panzer, Audrey (Steve) Waldschmidt, Mike (Theresa) Reynders, Jim (Mary) Reynders, Cathy (Mike) Stenzel; grandchildren, Jake (Kenzi), Emma and Elle Panzer; Abby (fiancé, Jesse) and Meagan Waldschmidt; Anna (Mike Malison), Erin and Rachel Reynders; Joshua, Justin, Casey and Carly Reynders; Samuel, Bella, Josie and Grace Stenzel one great-grandchild, Aaron Malison; siblings, Jo (Hilary) Dale; Harold Effert, Rita (Jerry) Boucher; Bob (Carol) Effert, Laurie (Gary) Konop; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Effert; father and mother-in-law, Jake and Theresa Reynders; sister-in-law, Ronnie Effert; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin (Lynne) Effert. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, on Monday, November 20, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue after 9:30am on Tuesday, November 21, at St. Clare Catholic Church (St Mary’s Site), 2218 Day Street, Greenleaf until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. We extend our thank you and appreciation to the loving staff of the Reflections and Crossroads Programs, at Curative Connections who gave extra care and support to Mary Alice in her later years. We also extend a thank you to Unity Hospice, especially Leah. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, please consider making a donation to Curative Connections Programs in Green Bay.
