Mary A. Merkatoris

Mary Agnes Merkatoris (nee Kwitek) 84, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022. She was born in Green Bay, WI on May 4, 1937 to Edwin and Agnes Kwitek. She attended St. Matthew Grade School, St. Joseph Academy and Mount Mary College. She married John R. Merkatoris on August 3, 1957, inseparable in love and faith. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2010.

Mary lived her life with a strong faith, a devotion to the Blessed Mother, a quiet strength, and an immense love for her family. All served her well as she and John raised their 10 children. She was gracious, kind, and always ready to sit down for a visit. Mary especially loved spending time in Ephraim, WI and enjoyed years sharing this wonderful place with friends and family. A favorite spot was on the back deck taking in the sun and beauty surrounding her. Throughout her life she found strength, comfort, and peace through prayer.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and brothers Don and Ed Kwitek and brother-in-law, Fr. Ralph Merkatoris. Mary is survived by her children; Michael (Ingrid) Merkatoris, Mary (Gerard) Fahy, Mark (Lisa) Merkatoris, Megan (Brian) Segrin, James (Maureen) Merkatoris, Joseph (Lisa) Merkatoris, John (Nicole) Merkatoris, Amy Schall, Marianna Merkatoris, and Katie (Jef) Meyer. Mary is further survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister Margaret (Frank) Jones, and sisters-in-laws Fran and Joanne Kwitek.

Friends may call on Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthews St., Green Bay with visitation from 9:30-11:00am. Funeral Mass at 11:00am concelebrated by Rev. Bob Kabat and Rev. Richard Getchel. Mass will be live streamed @stmattsgb.org. Burial at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
