Mary A. Foley

Mary A. Foley (Minelli), 93, Green Bay, formery of Jersey City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. She was born December 6, 1918 in Jersey City, New Jersey, daughter to the late Andrea and Teresa (DiBiasi) Minelli. She married Harold B. Foley, December 4, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1990. Although, she held many positions such as a laundrist, telephone operator, elevator operator at the Hotel New Yorker, and a rivitor making airplanes during WWII, her greatest accomplishment was earning her GED at the age of 56 while working for the Can Do Project and JTPA of Jersey City. She was well-known as the mother of Jersey City job training. Mary helped thousands of people find work. After 30 yrs of service, she retired at the age of 77. Her energy as a mother and a worker was matched only to her sincere dedication to helping people find work. She always enjoyed helping people. Her golden rule was treat people the way you want to be treated. Mary was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. She loved word search, playing cards with her family, sewing and crocheting many special pieces for her family. She loved to tell stories to share memories of her life. She also loved to cook especially during the holidays making many Italian dishes. She was very proud of her Italian heritage. She will be missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her four children: Marie and (Pat) Stesner, New Jersey; Kathy Duva, Green Bay; Harold and (Mirtha) Foley, Jr., New Jersey; and Robert Foley, New Jersey; grandchildren: Tracey Stesner, Cheryl McNally, and Patrick Stesner Jr, all of New Jersey, Phillis Duva, Green Bay, Raymond Duva, Green Bay; Alex Foley, Jennifer Foley and Lauren Foley; Robert Foley, Jr., Raeanna Foley; and Ian Foley; numerous great-grandchildren; and one brother, Tony Minelli. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James; grandson, Kenneth John Duva, Jr.; four sisters and three brothers. Family and friends may call Monday, October 22, 2012 at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum, 2121 Riverside Drive, Allouez, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m., with Deacon Don Ropson officiating.
