Marvin Lee Nordling Sr. said his last goodbye on Friday July 21, 2023, after a 2 1/2 year hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Marv was born on March 12, 1939, to Joseph and Emma Nordling in Caspian, Ml. He joined the marines after graduating from Stambaugh High School in 1957. After that he lived in the Milwaukee area and worked at Caterpillar for 26 years.
He retired from Navistar in 2001 and eventually moved back to Upper Michigan where he built a house on Hagerman Lake with Jenny Kosky. In 2020 they moved to De Pere which is where he still resided. His favorite thing to do was fish at a local stream with his good friend Chuck Proksch. Marv loved the outdoors & spent most of his time fishing, trapping, and golfing as a member of both the Iron River Country Club & Youngs Golf Course. When not outdoors Marv enjoyed playing Bridge with the groups in Eagle River, WI and If you popped in to visit in the evening, you'd find him settled in watching a Western.
He is survived by Jeanette Kosky, three children Marvin (Sheri) Nordling Jr, Justine (Mark) Wamser, Lisa Nordling, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, four stepchildren Chuck Kosky, Barb (Tony) Bartkowiak, Rob (Lynn) Kosky, David (Deanna) Kosky and 8 step grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents & his brothers Wilbur, Glenn, and Ralph along with the favorites of all his animals, Poika the dog and Runski the cat.
We're thankful for the extra care and visits by Dave & Deanna & their girls Alaina & Samantha along with Rob, Lynn, Tony & Barb who checked in often for smiles & conversation.
The family would also like to thank all the nurses, doctors, esp. Dr Gautam, and assisting staff at both Aurora's Lombardi Cancer Center & Urgent Care in De Pere. Their tender loving care and knowledge enabled Marv to live well beyond his expectations of 18 months. Vallet Diane joyfully greeted Marv upon each visit with care & compassion. It's incredible people like you that make tough health issues a little easier.
A memorial with military honors will be held this Saturday July 29th at 3pm at the Stambaugh Cemetery in Iron River, Ml.
