KEWAUNEE - It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Martie Roubal, 76, of Kewaunee, Wisconsin. She met her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home on Saturday, June 17, 2023, as the result of a cerebral aneurysm.
Martie was born to the late Maynard Sr. & Joyce (Duescher) Lufter in Kewaunee, Wisconsin on September 11, 1946. She graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1964. There she enjoyed playing the flute in the band and excelled in her shorthand and typing classes.
On May 8, 1965, Martie married her high school sweetheart, Jack Roubal, at Holy Rosary Church in Kewaunee. He had proposed to her a few months earlier on Christmas Eve. Jack knew the treasure he had in Martie and they wanted to start their lives together as soon as possible.
She began her career at Prudential Insurance in Green Bay. Later, Martie would become Assistant to the Administrator at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kewaunee, working there for almost 20 years. Following that, she worked at Green Bay Oncology until her retirement in 2009. She always enjoyed greeting patients and making them feel welcome.
Family was extremely important to Martie and she was proud of the one her and Jack had formed. They welcomed their son, Brent, in 1968 and their daughter, Kara, in 1974. Marriages and grandchildren followed. First Evan and Noah, then Ethan, Ella, Anika, and Caleb, her six “precious pearls” as she called them.
She truly adored her children and grandchildren, visiting with them often and attending all their activities and events. She was always the first person to arrive so she could get the best seat and hold spots for the rest of the family.
Holidays and special occasions were also very important to Martie. She would plan every detail and then carry out the plan to perfection. She made sure everyone enjoyed themselves, but more importantly spent time together as a family. Celebrating Christmas and organizing her annual family pool party were among the most special to her.
She cared greatly for her father, Maynard, and always attended to his needs, especially in his final years. It was important to her that he was happy and comfortable and she made every effort to ensure that.
Martie had many friends, as she liked meeting new people and striking up a conversation with just about anyone. She always enjoyed gathering with her friends for a conversation, especially those closest to her like her bible study group and high school classmates. When she was not enjoying the company of others, which was rare, she enjoyed Sudoku, crosswords, and puzzles.
Her faith in God was a very important part of Martie’s life. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Green Bay where she made many friends. One of the highlights on her faith journey was in 1996 when she and Jack visited the Holy Land and Egypt. She always cherished this time and talked about it often.
Martie will be dearly missed by her loving family: husband of 58 years, Jack Roubal; son and daughter-in-law, Brent & Missy Roubal with grandchildren, Evan, Noah (Fiancé, Daniela Chian Yan) & Ella Roubal; daughter and son-in-law, Kara & Dwane Wilke with grandchildren, Ethan, Anika, & Caleb Wilke; brother, Larry (Karen) Lufter; sister-in-law, Pat Lufter (the late Butch); stepsister-in-law, Sally Champine (the late Bill); nieces and nephews, Heather Summers (special friend, Craig), and Ryan (Bobbi) Lufter; Chad (Katy) Behrendt, Michelle (Jeff) Baranczyk, and Cory (Kara) Behrendt; Brenda (Jeff) Kleiman, Bryan Lufter, and Beth (David) Martinez; Aletha Champine (Perry Wirth), and Bradley Champine; Jenny (Chad) Fogarty, and Michelle Roubal (special friend, Paul Peterson).
Martie was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard Sr. & Joyce Lufter; Stepmothers, Charlien Champine Lufter, and Marion Esperseth Lufter; Father and Mother-in-Law, Tony & Edna Roubal; brother Maynard Jr. (Butch); brother and sister-in-law, David & Marilyn Roubal; and stepbrother Bill Champine.
Martie left her life on earth the same way she lived it, by helping others. As an organ donor, she wanted to make sure others enjoyed a life as happy and fulfilling as hers. Special thanks to the ICU nurses and staff of Aurora Hospital in Green Bay for their compassionate care in her donation process.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S Webster Ave, Green Bay in Green Bay to celebrate her life. Visitation will begin at 9am, followed by a funeral service at 11am. Interment at Riverview Cemetery in Kewaunee.
Cotter Funeral & Cremation Care are assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Martie’s name has been established to benefit Faith Lutheran Church.
Although we are deeply saddened and will greatly miss the wife, mother, grandmother, and friend you were, we find comfort in knowing this is all part of God’s plan and we will see you again someday.
