Marland “Monnie” King, age 89, of Green Bay, passed away on April 27, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Charles; children Mary (Dennis) Jepsen, Lisa (John) Maloney, Charlie (Chrissy) King, Michael King, Tom (Donna) King, and John King; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Leanne (Charles) Bither. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Monnie was born on September 17, 1928 in Marinette, Wisconsin to the late Emanuel and Louise (Kirmse) Mack. She graduated from Mount Mary University, and on August 25, 1951, married Charles "Charlie" King at St. Willebrord’s in Green Bay. Monnie was active in the community as a member of the Green Bay Service League, and a busy homemaker with five young children. Monnie, Charlie and family moved to England in 1962, where their sixth child, John, was born. They embraced the British culture and customs, making many long-time friends.
Moving back to the States in 1980 brought Monnie back closer to her sister, Leanne, cousins, and friends, which she treasured. She loved to swim, play tennis, golf, and cards with family and friends, never minding about whether she won or not; it was the camaraderie and pure fun that mattered. She was also very active in P.E.O., a Philanthropic Educational Organization that provides scholarships for women.
Monnie always thought of others before herself. In the words of her niece, Kathy, “she was so beloved and an example to us all about how to live and treat others.” She will be so very missed.
