Marilyn Louise (Mathys) Aebischer, 81, of Green Bay, entered into eternal life on Saturday May 18, 2013, after a short stay at the Unity Hospice Residence in DePere, while holding hands with her very special niece, Marcia. The daughter of Louis and Rose (Miller) Mathys was born March 21, 1932 in Green Bay. She attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and West High School, graduating in 1950. She married Kenneth Aebischer on July 28, 1956 at St. Patrick’s in Green Bay; “Abe” preceded her in death on October 2, 1988. In 1990 Marilyn met her fiancé, Ray Josephs, to whom she has been engaged for 22 years. Marilyn was a very special person, always there to praise, lend support or a kind word and always more concerned about the well-being of others than of herself. In the face of many serious health challenges during her life, she always maintained her faith in the Lord and a positive attitude. She truly was an inspiration to all of us. Her first job was for Standard Oil in the mail room, where she worked for 7 years, and then worked at First Wisconsin/U.S. Bank for 31 years. Marilyn was very involved in various clubs, including: the Elks (Widow) Women, the Elks Club, U.S. Bank Ladies, Allouez Beautification Committee, Brown County Women’s Club, Catholic Women’s Club, Christian Women’s Club, Moose Club, her “movie club,” and many other social clubs. Marilyn loved her family and her many friends who were very important to her. She enjoyed travelling, especially going on cruises, spending time with her friends at Jill’s Bar and shopping. She was always on the go, right on through the last weeks of her life. Marilyn was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and the Resurrection Catholic Women’s Club, and was also active at St. Matthew Parish. Survivors include her longtime fiancé, Ray Josephs; one brother, Ken Mathys, Sr.; nieces and nephews: Marcia (Tony) Mathys-Pierce, Ken (Shawn) Mathys, Fred (Sandy) Mathys and John (Diane) Mathys; great nieces and nephews, as well as many very special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Louis Mathys, husband Ken Aebischer, and sister-in-law Geraldine Mathys. Family and friends may gather at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Friday, May 24, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online memorials at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and physicians of the 9th floor at St. Vincent Hospital, Rennes Center in DePere, the Meng Residence of Unity Hospice, and Dr. Jon Tammela and staff for the wonderful care and concern shown to Marilyn and her family over the last few months.
