Marie Van Remortel

Marie E. Van Remortel, 95, De Pere, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012. Marie was born Marie Emily Petersen on March 16, 1917 in Suring, WI. She married Victor Van Remortel on November 28, 1936. Together they raised 5 children: Jean (Bill) Vande Hei, Roger (Gladys) Pardowsky, Sally (Jerome) Pfluger, Francis (Jean) Lasee, Richard (significant other Pam Wood). Vic and Marie have 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchilden. Marie was the oldest of 8 children: the late John (the late Doris), Violet (Marvin) Puymbroek, Hilda (Lester) Bahrke, Joan (Pat) Grady, Jeanine (George) Peotrowski, Molly (Phil) Weylandt and Mary (Merle) Weihing. Marie is also survived by Vic’s brother and sister: Don (Mary Jane) Van Remortel and Laverne Treml. Marie enjoyed her extended family, gardening, sewing, cooking, and her large collection of dolls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; oldest son, Roger; brother, John; son-in-law, Jerry Pfluger. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Marvin Puymbroek, Lester Bahrke, Doris Petersen, Vi (Tony) Bangert, Clarence (Hun) Gullickson, Della Wilson, Vince (Janet), Dolly (Clarence) Zegers, Felix Treml and David Giese. Family and friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St, De Pere, on Wednesday, August 8th, from 2:00 until 4:45p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00p.m., at the Church, followed by a luncheon in the Fr. Dolski Parish Center. Interment in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family.
